About Clara Gonzalez Schwabe
Clara Gonzalez Schwabe’s practice focuses on family law, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, and on trusts and estates, probate and estate administration.
Ms. Schwabe is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School earning a JD degree in 1974, and Syracuse University earning a BA degree in American Studies 1968.
Since graduating law school Ms. Schwabe has engaged in the private practice of law, successfully negotiating contested family matters and litigating family law cases through the appellate process. Mid-career Ms. Schwabe took time off to raise a family and then, to devote time to public service as a volunteer and staff attorney handling family law support and custody matters with Legal Services for New York, Brooklyn Branch and as managing attorney of the Legal Referral Service of the New York City Bar Association.
While practicing law, Ms. Schwabe continues her public service commitment as a member of the New York State Bar Association President’s Committee on Access to Justice, as Chair of the New York City Bar Association’s Committee on Legal Services for Persons of Moderate Means and as a member of the Pro Bono Committee of the Metro New York Chapter of the Financial Planning Association. Ms. Schwabe is a member of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association and a Past Vice President of the New York State Women’s Bar Association. Ms. Schwabe is a proud member of the Latina Lawyers Cafecito Group.
Professionally Ms. Schwabe is a member of the American Bar Association Real Property and Trusts and Estates Section, and the New York State Bar Elder Law Committee.
